3-Benzylidene camphor
Legacy camphor UVB filter. Banned in EU cosmetics since 2015 after SCCS could not support a safe use level. Do not use.
3-Benzylidene camphor is an older unsubstituted camphor UVB filter. SCCS historically found a margin of safety below 100 and experimental hormonal activity. Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1298 removed it from the Annex VI UV-filter list and added it to the Annex II prohibited list.
It is not 4-MBC, though the toxicology concerns sit in the same family. Treat as obsolete. Do not formulate. Include only so an old INCI name can be flagged.
