Ethylhexyl triazone

High-efficiency photostable UVB filter. TGA’s 2025 review called current Australian use low risk. A strong modern UVB choice.

Ethylhexyl triazone is a large-molecule triazine UVB filter (peak about 314 nm) with high photostability and high extinction. It is one of the better modern UVB options.

Australia and the EU allow 5%. It is not on the old US monograph. TGA’s July 2025 review of seven actives found a margin of safety above 100 and classed it as low risk and appropriate for therapeutic sunscreens. No major endocrine or cancer signal.

A first-choice UVB partner for bemotrizinol, DHHB or zinc.
