Polysilicone-15
Polymeric silicone-bound UVB filter. Large molecule, low expected absorption. Australia allows 10%. Little contemporary human controversy.
Polysilicone-15 is a polymeric UVB absorber (peak about 312 nm) with the chromophore bound to a silicone backbone. Systemic exposure is expected to be low because of the size of the molecule.
Australia allows 10% in listed therapeutic sunscreens, matching the EU cap. It is not on the US OTC monograph. An older SCCS assessment permitted 10%. There is little contemporary human endocrine literature and no notable current regulator safety signal.
A quiet supporting UVB filter, often in silicone-heavy textures.
