TEA-Salicylate
Weak old salicylate UVB filter. Still on the Australian permitted list at 12% but not used in current Australian sunscreens. FDA removed it from the US monograph in September 2026.
Trolamine salicylate is a water-soluble salicylate once used as a mild UVB filter, often in after-sun or analgesic-crossover products more than in serious SPF formulas.
FDA’s 10 September 2026 final order found it not GRASE and removed it from OTC Monograph M020, effective 11 September 2027. Australia still permits it at up to 12% (TGA Table 9, August 2025), but TGA’s 2025 seven-ingredient review noted that neither PABA nor trolamine salicylate is used in products currently marketed in Australia.
Not an EU Annex VI UV filter. Include for completeness of the old US list.
